About The Rowley Estates
The Rowley Estates is centred around Glassonby in the heart of Cumbria. Our family has been based here for six generations. As a working estate, we’re still involved in many agricultural and tourism activities drawing on the unique character of the Eden Valley and the nearby Lake District Fells. That’s why many of our guests comment that stay at The Rowley Estates is unlike any other holiday experience they’ve encountered. You experience all the luxury and facilities of a hotel or corporate venue yet feel the genuine personal touch and historical character of a family estate.
History
Since it was established in the early 1800s by Edwin Rowley, The Rowley Estates has been in family hands. For six generations, this stunning collection of farms, woodlands, historic manors and businesses has been run carefully and sympathetically by the Rowley family. We’ve seen a lot of changes, but have always felt that keeping up with the times doesn’t have to mean losing sight of tradition. We’re lucky enough to be custodians of this incredible piece of Cumbrian history and we’re delighted to be able to share it with our customers and visitors.
