You’ll enjoy all the comfort and attention to detail of The Rowley Estate’s ancestral homes distilled into an intimate haven.

Tucked to the west of a beautifully restored Cumbrian farmhouse courtyard, overlooking a central millstone garden, Vale Croft is set behind the courtyard yew hedges and blooming cherry trees. Relax on your private terrace, sip aperitifs, and witness breathtaking sunsets or fire up the Weber barbecue for a delightful evening.

Vale Croft serves as an optional add-on for Todd Hills Hall Farmhouse guests, expanding the accommodation options from 6 to 7 double ensuite bedrooms.

Alternatively, Vale Croft is offered as a standalone retreat when the farmhouse is not booked, providing flexibility for last-minute getaways, typically with a three-week lead time prior to arrival.

After hearty hikes in the surrounding Pennines, curl up in front of the wood- burning stove to warm your toes and catch a favourite film. The open plan kitchen keeps conversation flowing as you rustle up a feast. Or uncork wine from your hamper and sit out on your sandstone terrace, listening for the cooing of turtledoves in the ancient woodland nearby.

At night, luxuriate under Egyptian cotton sheets in the super king-size bed and drift off to the hooting owls. The ensuite Coniston Room has a rainfall shower in its limestone travertine tiled ensuite shower room.

The picturesque village of Melmerby, a few minutes by car or a stroll down the quiet country lane, is well worth a visit with a pretty independent shop, a stunning tearoom and the welcoming Shepherd’s Inn pub serving hearty local specialities.

There are walks from your doorstep. Watch out for tawny owls, hedgehogs and roe deer.
