Melmerby Hall’s history stretches back to medieval times, as can be seen in its fortified tower construction in the central core of the building. The Georgian Wing was added in the 1700s at the front elevation while an oak sprung floor ballroom, built in the Victorian era was taken down post war when the hall served as a home for young children. In 1982, the Hall was devastated by a major fire which gutted the Georgian wing and the Billiards Room.
A series of gentle restorations over the last two decades have seen Melmerby Hall reinstated as a luxurious country home with nine ensuite bedrooms and extensive reception spaces including an oak panelled library, a stately dining room seating 18 or more, a formal Georgian Drawing Room, a modern light conservatory adjoining the handmade oak kitchen and a spacious family living room.
