We stayed at Birch Retreat for our Christmas as a family of three and we had the best Christmas ever. Birch Retreat exceeded all our expectations. It was lovely and cosy. It was always warm with central heating and a lovely log fire. Soooo many logs for the fires you will never run out. Gorgeous shower gel, shampoo and moisturiser to use. Lots of lovely towels to keep us going. Really comfortable beds. Everything you need in the kitchen. The welcome hamper was a lovely touch and the homemade jam was lovely. The area is lovely and quiet. There are 2 other cabins in view. Birch Retreat is on the end next to woodland and a river which was perfect for us as it gave us our own little private walk which our daughter loved each day. There is a lovely pub a quick walk down the road. We were sorry to leave, we had such a lovely peaceful time. Christine was a great attentive host. We hope to return and stay again! Thank you x

WHAT an experience and WHAT a place. I was King of my own CaRstle for 3 nights and it was absolutely BRILLIANT.
We had a Piper pipe us in for dinner and a pizza wagon (all provided by the EXCELLENT Lynn Hilditch – recommended by Christine, of course).
From the word go Christine has been exceptional in helping me in every way. Allowing me to pre view and look around to answering any questions I had.
24 of us enjoyed the gorgeous surroundings and the beautiful Northern lights. I wouldn’t hesitate to book for a large gathering.

Beautiful house, plenty of room for 6 adults, a toddler and 2 labradors. The kitchen and bathrooms are very well equipped, no need to haul toiletries or kitchen basics. Beautiful hamper of local goodies on arrival. The EV charging station was much appreciated and less expensive than most commercial chargers. Owners are super helpful and responsive to any requests. Highly recommend any of their properties

I stayed at Oak Retreat recently. The location was very peaceful and private. Christine was a wonderful host and always responded quickly to any enquiries and requests and provided some lovely local produce as a welcome The attention to detail in the hut was amazing. Everything had been thought about properly with very clever use of the space. It was very well equipped and had everything I needed and more. The drop down bed was very comfortable and easy enough to stow away in the morning leaving space to sit at a good sized table with seats at either side. The woodburning stove was a lovely addition. For anyone not versed in lighting fires there is a full set of instructions to help or alternatively central heating with easy to use thermostat. There are plenty of walks in the area and a great cosy pub serving food a couple of miles away and Penrith close by for anything else. I would definately recommend to all. Great value for money. Stag Cottage was perfect for our group. Plenty of space and comfortable furnishings. We enjoyed having both a kitchen table and a formal dining room where we celebrated an 80th birthday. The welcome basket has all you need and was a lovely touch. We would definitely return to Stag Cottage.

Quaint location, everything you needed right on your doorstep (pub, bakery/shop, walks & activities). Peaceful setting, private outdoor space. Well equipped kitchen, with well put together hamper full of lovely goodies! The Toiletries smelled delightful, the towel nice crisp and white. Beds were comfortable and roomy. Pool table was an absolute hit with the family. Overall a great property in a lovely location, would definitely recommend and would love to visit another property on the rowley estate portfolio!

Cute little place with lots of privacy, the hosts were very thoughtful and left us with lots essentials which made things a lot more relaxed as we didn’t need to go into town, had a cute little card written for me on my arrival! Would highly recommend

We recently spent a fabulous weekend at Blencowe Hall with family and friends celebrating a Birthday. This is an outstanding venue that is steeped in a fascinating history which has been carefully and sensitively restored.

The owners and staff teams clearly work very hard to keep Blencowe Hall well maintained. It is very comfortable, clean, tidy and well stocked with everything that you are likely to need for your stay.

We also found the owners to be very approachable and helpful, when planning our stay and during our stay.

There are plenty of shops and supermarkets close by in Penrith at which to purchase food and places to visit such as Lake Derwent, Lake Coniston and the town of Keswick.

During our stay we took advantage of using a local caterer to provide us with an evening 3 course meal in the impressive dinning room at Blencowe Hall which was superb. Additionally, we also spent a day at Blencowe Hall participating in a clay pigeon shoot. This was something neither we or our guests have previously experienced but was thoroughly enjoyable to all and very informative.

The owners have contact details for a host of activity providers and caterers. Should you wish to arrange something during your stay.

We cannot recommend highly enough a stay at Blencowe Hall to anyone wanting to plan a special family occasion such as birthdays, weddings, or simply a get together with friends. We genuinely feel that you will not regret a stay in such a unique building and it’s surroundings.
