We were here for a birthday celebration, and there was everything we needed. Christine and her team were responsive and on hand for any question we had. The house and grounds were stunning and the village pub was lovely.

Stag Cottage was perfect for our group. Plenty of space and comfortable furnishings. We enjoyed having both a kitchen table and a formal dining room where we celebrated an 80th birthday. The welcome basket has all you need and was a lovely touch. We would definitely return to Stag Cottage.

A lovely stay in Stag Cottage recently – have stayed before in one of the Rowley Estate cottages that are of a high standard. Plenty of room for the family. Clean and well-kept. Beds comfortable. Welcome hamper excellent. Eden valley a lovely location.

Wonderfully comfortable cottage in a beautiful setting, expertly run.

Booked this cottage as it linked directly to Melmerby Hall and accommodated the rest of our large party. With its doorway directly into the Hall it was so easy for everyone to mingle. The same high standard and attention to detail in this cottage as the Hall. From its beautiful bedrooms and lovely courtyard garden with its firepit, the wonderful welcome pack, superb is the only way to describe it!

Stag Cottage very well appointed and lots of space. Lovely hamper with excellent quality items.

Good pub nearby with food and cafe even closer. Good walks direct from the cottage with helpful directions provided. Lots of very helpful information on the local amenities and places to visit.

We really enjoyed our weekend at Stag Cottage which we found to be very comfortable and well equipped. Hamper was appreciated and full of lovely things. We were 3 couples and the cottage was perfect for us. My husband and I have stayed at Melmerby Hall twice as part of a large group of friends so we knew of Stag Cottage and thought it would be just right for 6 of us.

We enjoyed a lovely, relaxing weekend with friends at Stag Cottage. Cottage is very comfortable and well equipped, and the welcome hamper was much appreciated. Great pub in the village serving good food and plenty of local walks.

Incredible. I hosted 25 women for a yoga and wellbeing retreat. The estate was gorgeous, and immaculate. Everything I could have wanted and more. Every single person was in awe and we have made memories for life. We will be back!

We stayed at Melmerby Hall and Stag Cottage from 22 December – 27 December 2023 to celebrate my 60th Birthday and the Christmas festivities. We have previously had the pleasure of holidaying at various cottages owned by the Rowley Estates and it was exciting to be celebrating at Melmerby Hall this time around. Christine and her amazing team make the whole experience 5 star (from initial enquiry to leaving at the end of the stay) at whichever property you stay in.
There were 24 of us in Melmerby Hall and Stag Cottage (including 9 children) and every one of us could not fault anything about it. The Hall is so well equipped, and the beautiful welcome hampers are second to none. Both properties were decorated for Christmas with the most beautiful trees, door wreaths, swags, ribbons etc.
We made use of the wonderful gardens with a treasure hunt for the children and to run energy off playing hide and seek. All the children were delighted too that we had a visit on Christmas Eve from Father Christmas himself!
All in all, our stay has to go down as one of our best Christmas’ ever and we cannot thank Christine and her team enough for their hard work and dedication to make our dream come true. A beautiful property in the most fantastic location, with endless walking opportunities from the front door.
I am so looking forward to our next cottage stay later this year.
