We were here for a birthday celebration, and there was everything we needed. Christine and her team were responsive and on hand for any question we had. The house and grounds were stunning and the village pub was lovely.

Just had a brilliant stay at Melmerby Hall with Eighteen friends for a 60th birthday. Cannot recommend this lovely place enough. Beautiful home beautiful surroundings. The little luxury soaps and shampoos in each bathroom were a special touch as was the beautiful hamper full of goodies that was waiting for us when we arrived. Spotlessly clean and catered for every need. Fabulous place !

Melmerby Hall is a fantastic property set in beautiful grounds. The accommodation is excellent with 9 en-suite bedrooms, several reception rooms, a spacious kitchen and a snooker room making it ideal for meeting friends. Travel a few miles and you could be in the Lake District or the Pennines so there is plenty to explore locally.

Great Value for a property of such stature I thoroughly recommend it.

A grand house beautifully equipped full of character. On the east side of the M6 so the Lakes are a bit of a drive however locally there are wonderful walks. The local pub is recommended as is the bakery with its cafe.

What a wonderful stay with the extended family at Melmerby Hall.

The house is just beautiful, the grounds was amazing and so well equipped.

Christine was a great host, upon booking to us staying at the house she was always responsive and efficient to all our communications.

On one of the nights, unfortunately there was an electricity outage in the area which I believe was rare ( prior to this – around 4 years ago they had one ) and melmerby was one of the many affected homes but Christine was great during this stressful night as we managed to set off the fire alarm due to us cooking steak on the gas hob although I was worried, she was so calm throughout and directed us and in the end we manage to have a nice dinner with candles ready but electricity came back just in time!

This was an ideal break from the busy London life into the country and take in all the nature. We managed a little hike up Hallin Fell which overlooks Ullswater, a nice walk up to see Aira Force Waterfalls and kayaking and paddle boards with Wake and surf!

I would definitely recommend this to my friends and family and I look forward in staying again in the future.

Melmerby Hall ticked all the boxes. The most amazing property any member of the party had ever stayed in. From start to finish Christine and her team were brilliant down to the last detail. From the welcome hamper, the bathroom products, the well equipped kitchen, the grounds and outdoor games, it exceeded all our expectations, no one wanted to leave! We had a drop off meal and a celebration dinner from the wonderful Lynn Hilditch and the most amazing cake from Sara Ruddick! So pleased we discovered the Rowley Estates . I am trying to find another reason to visit again!

Sweet childhood memories revived.

Thank you so much for having us at Melmerby Hall for our long weekend! Everyone appreciated such a well appointed house and its setting in those simply stunning grounds, and the accommodation fit us perfectly. The ensuite bath/shower rooms for every room were especially welcome.
Despite the weather, we still managed to enjoy the archery event on the lawns, put on by Mike Coates’ team (whom you had recommended), and otherwise enjoyed being very comfortable in the house together.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Melmerby Hall, and the other accommodation there, for a large group booking. We had a great time, and would love to see you again soon!

I booked Melmerby Hall for a family reunion and it was just lovely. It is a beautiful house, like something out of Pride and Prejudice and it felt a real privilege to get to stay there. There is a lovely large table with a huge skylight over the top we ate most of our meals at as a big family. The kids had a fantastic time roaming the house and gardens. I would love to go back and stay again.
