This is our second Christmas break with The Rowley Estates. We stayed in Jenny’s Croft last Christmas and at Elk Cottage this year. These two cottages are side by side in the quaint little village of Glassonby in the Lake District. If you like peace, relaxation and a level of luxury then this is the place for you. The cottage is kept to a very high standard. It is very clean and well furnished. It is so well equipped from a sewing kit to freeview and wifi. There was a Christmas wreath on the door, Christmas tree in the hall and a fantastic luxury hamper waiting in the spacious kitchen. There was bread, butter, milk, cereals, fruit juice and their own locally made jam. Oh the Jam! It was delicious but the single jar did not last long. Be warned! The Dining room comfortably accommodates 4 adults for Christmas dinner. The lounge is also well equipped and very comfortable. The wood burning fire is amazing with an ample supply of chopped logs available. The two bedrooms are ensuite. One with a bath and the other with a shower cubicle. The beds are very comfortable and give a great nights sleep. The cottage is dog friendly and has bowls, poo bags etc provided if needed. There are a few nice walks that can be taken with information available in the cottage. It is about 8 miles to Penrith where there are several large supermarkets as well as a nice Town centre. The Rowley Estates offer luxury accommodation that takes some beating! There is always someone on hand either a phone call or email away. I have only spoken with Jilly and Christine who will go out of their way to make your visit special.

Another lovely week in the fantastic Hause Hall! Great walks, evenings in playing games was cosy! Absolutely stunning views all round and a breathtaking place to be. We fell in love with this place from day one! Thanks.

What a stay! Having stayed in many self catering places over the years, UK and abroad, Cazenovia comes up top. The communication before hand, advice, help and details given was excellent. The house itself was gorgeous, with lovely styling and furniture. Our welcome hamper was a lovely gesture and the place was a perfect setting for my mother’s 60th birthday with the family. I am now looking for a bigger event to have so we can use Blencowe Hall. What a treat, thank you so much for a wonderful stay.

Our sincere thanks to Christine and the Rowley Family for our time in this gorgeous house. It was perfect – everything we could have hoped for – and such a lovely place to spend a weekend catching up with friends. Excellent pre-arrival help and information, a beautiful welcome basket, and stunning surroundings. We loved every minute, and were so sorry to leave. We’ll be back as soon as we can!! The location of this property is amazing, beautiful gardens , great family friendly huge place for everyone to enjoy, its the ideal property to kick back and relax. Would highly recommend a visit for a long weekend break.

Beautiful location Stag Cottage, Melmerby is a beautiful character cottage, lots of atmosphere with modern kitchen. Lovely private garden. Situated in village with tasty cafe/bakery and friendly pub serving excellent food. Walks nearby. Welcome hamper with all local produce was really appreciated. Would definitely stay here again. This property has an internal adjoining door to Melmerby Hall so ideal if your party has a larger number of guests.

What a delight! From the welcome basket to the games made available. Beautiful peaceful surroundings and wonderful views of the mountains of the Lake District. A well appointed place to stay. We shall be back! Thank you!

Seven lovely ladies on our annual get together, this year celebrating a special birthday. Wonderful house which was so comfortable for our get together. Lots of evenings around a roaring fire. Fantastic times, fantastic friends.

What a fantastic place! We had perfect weather for autumn walks and cooked feasts. A great way to celebrate a significant birthday .
