We had such a lovely few nights stay at Elm Retreat. Everything we needed was supplied and Christine was so lovely in her communication. We would love to visit again!

Perfect little weekend retreat

Lovely place and location! Would recommend for a quiet weekend

We had a wonderful 3-night stay at the Hawthorn Retreat for my partner’s 30th birthday at the end of October this year, and can’t recommend it highly enough. The shepherd’s hut is in a beautiful, secluded location nestled among the the tree tops and just beside the river – a perfect spot to unwind, with easy access to Penrith and the lakes if you want to get out and about. We’ve always loved the idea of ‘tiny’ homes and were completely sold on how well finished and equipped the cabin was, it felt spacious and light whilst staying very warm and cosy at night. Christine and her team were so welcoming and provided a gorgeous breakfast hamper with local goodies and homemade jam, and the bathroom was kitted out with Rowley Estate soaps, shampoos, and lotions. The check-in was smooth and easy, as Christine had provided very thorough arrival information. The Hawthorn Retreat is a perfect getaway in a beautiful, peaceful landscape. We wished we could’ve stayed longer, and can’t wait to return.

Our stay at Larch Retreat was heaven on earth! It was beautifully decorated with so many thoughtful touches to make our stay idyllic! With peaceful and picturesque views to wake to , it’s the perfect get away base to explore the autumnal beauty of the Lake District! Christine was so friendly with emails in the lead up to our stay! She shared contact details in case we needed any help, recommendations for things to do and a lovely welcome package with necessities including local produce – the Rowley Estate jam was delicious! After daily 5-6 hours walks/hikes, returning to the peace of Larch Retreat was blissful. A cozy autumnal haven , it also has a fire pit outside that is perfect to curl around with a good book at the end of the day. One a clear night you can also enjoy the dark skies and with a very good camera you’ll catch thousands of stars which we took advantage of as keen photographers! My husband and I will 100% be back one day as it was a trip to remember for a life time

Christine’s place was perfect for a midweek getaway. Located close to the motorway and easy to find, the location still manages to feel secluded, offering a quiet and peaceful retreat in a cosy shepherd’s hut stocked with delicious local goods for breakfast and locally made toiletries. The hut was a short walk down a track but a cart was provided to transport any luggage. Christine was communicative and provided plenty of information both about the property but also things to do in the local area.

We were a party of 15, including 2 babies and 3 teenagers. We were there at the beginning of November 24 and used Cruik Barn as well as Hause Hall. All the bedrooms were furnished to a good standard. The accommodation as a whole matched the website descriptions and the separate dining area and sitting area worked really well for us. The information supplied re appliances etc was comprehensive. The views on all sides were beautiful especially from the glass-walled seating area.
