If you prioritise your privacy and just want to be away from it all then this is the place for you. There is no phone signal – which I loved! But wifi is available if your not so keen on switching off completely. The check-in was nice and easy and we likely wouldn’t have seen another soul if we didn’t go out and about around the lakes. Christine has really thought of everything from providing a delicious hamper with breakfast bits, fresh juice, tea and coffee to practical essentials like foil, different utensils, coal for the BBQ and wood for the fire pit. Being near a stream, nestled amongst the trees and long grass does mean that flies and knats are about. Christine did provide citronella incense, which I suspect meant it wasn’t as bad as it could have been! We had a truly amazing time here and, unusually for us, would go back again.

Stayed in many of these types of air bnbs now, this being the most I paid, although the place was very nice, clean and in a good location it was up to the same standards as other ones I have visited The host made us feel welcome even without their presence, and will hopefully use again in the future

Excellent accommodation in a peaceful area but well placed to explore the area for walking and cycling. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Barn

We have just returned home from a beautiful 3 night stay at Christine’s Shepherds Hut. Everything was perfect and as described. We absolutely loved our time there, and really wished we had a few extra nights to relax a bit more, after a jam packed weekend in the lakes. We loved the fresh bread, coffee, eggs, juice, and the delicious home made jam, that was waiting for us on arrival, thank you 🙂 Bed was also super comfortable, and the hut had a lovely shower. The fire pit outside is wonderful, and we would have made use of the wood burner inside, had it not been such good weather. Also the view from the private garden area is absolutely stunning. It was so so peaceful. We will look forward to staying here again sometime soon. We also really appreciated the flexibility provided with check in and check out. Cannot fault anything about our stay, it was just perfect. Thank you so much. Dan & Jo

We had a lovely stay at Elk cottage. Location was fantastic and accommodation was the best we’ve had on holiday. Welcome hamper was much appreciated. Would definitely recommend this cottage.

I had very relaxed long weekend in a shepherd’s hut – Hawthorn retreat. Christine and her team had thought of everything, from great communication, a very generous welcome hamper and a useful information folder. The Rowley Estates is in a stunning part of the country with so much to offer from great walks to beautiful castles and lots more, but if you just want to sit back and relax the scenery is just breathtaking.
I would highly recommend a stay, you won’t be disappointed. I will definitely be returning. Thank you

Melmerby Hall ticked all the boxes. The most amazing property any member of the party had ever stayed in. From start to finish Christine and her team were brilliant down to the last detail. From the welcome hamper, the bathroom products, the well equipped kitchen, the grounds and outdoor games, it exceeded all our expectations, no one wanted to leave! We had a drop off meal and a celebration dinner from the wonderful Lynn Hilditch and the most amazing cake from Sara Ruddick! So pleased we discovered the Rowley Estates . I am trying to find another reason to visit again!
