The Maple Shepards Hut is an absolutely Devine stay, in a beautiful location if you’re looking for something just out of the way but close enough to take short drives all over the lakes. The owner went completely above and beyond, with her beautiful property and gracious hospitality. I’ve never felt more at home on a short break and would happily return in a heartbeat. Clean, well stocked, and peaceful. Facilities were fantastic and well maintained – we were bawled over at the effort put in to keep everything running eco friendly. Truly a five star establishment

we have just got back from 3 nights at Rowan Retreat and like a few other reviews, or only regret is not staying longer! the breakfast hamper on arrival was enjoyed, the location was picturesque and the hut itself was perfect. everything has been thought of! we will be back

The Retreat was fantastic – peaceful, tranquil and private. The cabin had everything that you’d ever need and the welcome pack was such an added extra. We would definitely stay here again for a getaway into nature.

Wonderfully comfortable cottage in a beautiful setting, expertly run.

We stayed at Gill Beck for a friends 60th birthday. Three couples and three dogs. The house was perfect. Spacious, clean with everything you need. The garden was perfect for the dogs. From the initial email from Christine requesting bed configuration to what sheets you would like I knew it was going to be special. If you want peace, tranquillity and special time with friends and family Gill Beck is perfect.

A lovely cottage, possibly one of the best we have visited. Very clean with lovely beds & linen plus a range of luxury toiletries. Thank you for the generous supply of logs for the fire and also the excellent welcome hamper. We will certainly look to return but are also tempted by the many interesting properties available on your estates. Highly recommended – Chris

From the word go, communication with Christine was excellent. We checked into Oak Retreat without any complication. We were given earlier check in times and also later check out option. Christine left a super cute welcome box for us (milk, eggs, butter, muesli, tea, coffee fresh bread and the most delicious home-made raspberry jam). A very kind gesture indeed. Well equipped kitchen. Lovely bijou bathroom with towels, shampoo/conditioner/shower gel and handwash supplied. No expense spared! A lovely touch. Bed lovely and comfortable, folds away easy to make access for dining table seating area. Totally secluded and peaceful place. Fire pit and log burner used as weather got a little chilly on times. Logs and firewood supplied and plentiful. Information folder there with everything you need to know. Definitely will be returning again soon! Thank you for everything Christine 🙂

Lovely property, exactly as described. Very clean and all furnishings in great condition. Everything we needed. Very well stocked welcome hamper with beautiful local produce! Christine was super communicative, providing clear instructions and on hand when we needed her. Thanks for a great stay!

Elk cottage is the best home from home I’ve had the pleasure of staying in. I’m local to Cumbria, but wanted a space to introduce two dogs and have easy access to long walks and bike rides and Elk cottage was perfect.

You wanted for nothing as the cottage is completely stocked with everything you could possibly need. The welcome hamper was beautiful and very well received by the whole family.

The location is stunning. On a morning ride I saw hare, grouse, birds of prey, red squirrel, and deer along with local farm animals.
We completed a walk from the cottage to Long Meg with the dog which was also wonderful. You could happily stay in Elk cottage and the surrounding areas without stepping foot in the Lake District.
