A wonderful stay at Elm Retreat! A beautiful shepherd’s hut in a remote location. The welcome package made all the difference too. Thank you! I have no doubt we’ll be back again.

We loved staying in this luxiurious shepherd’s hut, which was kitted out with everything we needed and had such a comfortable bed. We loved the total privacy of Elm Retreat, set back from the road with only pheasants as our immediate neighbours. We had a couple of days of sunshine during our stay so seized the opportunity to use the Weber barbeque and firepit down by the river. Although it rained towards the end of our stay we didn’t mind hunkering down with our books in this cosy shepherd’s hut.

We stayed in the Elm Retreat Sheppards hut for a weeks break in October and it was the perfect cozy get away!

The host had layed out a welcome breakfast hamper of all local produce and a thankyou card on the breakfast table which was super cute. There was a binder full of all the information you needed from how to get the folding bed down to using the gas cooker to local walks and information for places to eat, see and explore!

The area the hut is in is very secluded, peaceful and quiet tucked away across a field into the woods next to a river. The host provides a little pull along carrier to help you transport your belongings to the hut.

Inside the hut is everything you would need. All the utensils to cook, cleaning products, towels and bedding, hand wash, shampoo and conditioner (no shower wash), even milk butter and eggs in the fridge. There is a bbq outside as well as a fire pit and the host has wood, coal and fire lighters for you too. I dont think there was anything we needed, the hosts have really thought of everything.

We found the hut on air bnb and the process of payment , directions , access and communication were all smooth and easy. Christine (the host) has thought of everything. I would recommend to a friend. We had a great time. Thanks Christine

Without a doubt the best location to just get away from it all, a little off the grid but still central to easily get to Penrith and Keswick and everything in between. The booking process was excellent, first rate, everything seemed to have been considered and this carried through to Elm Retreat itself, it is gorgeous, a perfect little place with literally everything you need to get away from it all. Great little touches , we wanted for nothing. We will definitely be back for another stay soon.

The Elm Retreat is the most beautiful place to stay!! It is well designed, exceptionally clean and there is everything you could need. The surrounding area is stunning and the people make you feel like a local within minutes. Christine was a brilliant host and made sure we had everything we needed. The welcome hamper was a nice touch as well. We will definitely be returning and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
