Just got back from a great weekend at Melmerby Hall and Stag Cottage, this is the second time we have stayed at a Rowley Estates property and I can’t recommend them highly enough. We were originally due to go in October 2020 but had to rearrange due to the mess that is Covid, Rowley Estates were great to deal with and made rearranging a doddle. Stag Cottage is very well equipped and in a great setting. It has a direct indoor link to Blencowe Hall if you need more space. There is plenty of space in the grounds as well to stretch your legs and work off a few of the calories you’re bound to have indulged in. The village of Melmerby is a delight, the Shepherds Inn in the village is superb for any meals you want and the owner is very helpful in getting larger parties sorted, with a bit of pre organisation our party of 17 were fed and watered with very few issues, he even opened especially for us on the Friday afternoon. The staff there were friendly and sorted us out easily. The village bakery is great for those wanting a naughty snack and also does breakfasts, they fit 17 of us in before we left on the Monday morning and it was good stuff, no skinny bacon or a manky sausage in sight, all good. We got a delivery from Tesco and Sainsbury on the Friday of snacks and beer, it saved anyone having to travel to Penrith for supplies. Another great property from Rowley Estates…well done…PS…also check out Melmerby Hall and Blencowe Hall if you have a larger party, they are owned by the same people, truly stunning properties that we’ve been lucky enough to stay at as well

I just wanted to send a brief message to express how much we enjoyed staying at Riverain and thank you for the last minute alterations and info you sent regarding places to visit. Our day spent at Walby Farm Park went down a storm with the children whilst the adults looked forward to our well deserved complimentary bottle of wine from the super welcome hamper to aid our recuperation. A jewel of a holiday home! I’m sure we will look to return again soon!

We have just returned from a magical stay at Hause Hall having celebrated our wedding there. We couldn’t have wished for anything more. The accommodation was superb and the location is stunning. We couldn’t recommend it highly enough all the team were very helpful and friendly and responded to our questions very quickly. Our families had a wonderful time and we will hopefully return one day.

From the moment we pulled up the driveway we were in awe of the property and its beautiful surroundings! The good vibes didn’t end there, with its lovely large lounge and well appointed kitchen to greet us as we walked in, we were immediately reassured that this was money well spent and if we needed any further convincing then we had only to look at the welcome hamper! It was the most generous welcome hamper we have ever come across not just in quantity but quality too! What’s more our host, Christine, had kindly provided suggestions of where we might like to visit making identifying places to keep our party entertained a breeze. It was like having our own PA! Just brilliant. Thank you Christine for your hospitality, we hope to be staying with you again very soon.

Spent the most wonderful birthday weekend here with friends. Everything from start to finish was of the highest standard to ensure luxury & comfort. On arrival, waiting for us was a fabulous ,luxury welcome hamper containing all daily food essentials complete with bottle of wine. Most of contents supported local businesses which made it even more meaningful. Stag Cottage was very well equipped, maintaining similar high quality in connection with all the furnishings in each of the rooms. Each bedroom was extremely comfortable with en-suites containing a wide selection of toiletries, again supporting Cumbrian suppliers…Liked them so much that when out and about I purchased some to take home. If you like to explore there are endless lovely walks accessible from the cottage, with access to beautiful countryside and some on the Estate itself. At the end of the day you can curl up in front of a large log burner in the sitting room of the cottage ,visit the local pub or relax with coffee and cake in the village bakery. It really is the perfect place to kick back and relax and I can not recommend it highly enough. I certainly would not hesitate to go back again or even try some of the other properties Rowley has to offer. Thank you so much to all the Rowley team for making our stay so enjoyable

We had a wonderful short break at Gill Beck Barn, 3 couples and 3 dogs, for 4 nights. Extremely well appointed and very comfortable throughout, plus a very large and secure garden for the dogs. Clean, warm, and great attention to detail – including the lovely hamper! We would definitely recommend and hope to stay here again.

We had an lovely weekend stay at Hawthorn Retreat recently for our friends’ wedding. The hamper in the hut when we arrived was incredible, especially the Rowley jam (that and the loaf of bread barely lasted two days)! We had plenty of charcoal and wood for the barbecue and fire pit, and really enjoyed sitting outside for our dinner listening to the sound of the river in the gully below us. Super relaxing evening (only comment is that it would have been handy to have some tongs for the bbq, but we just used the spatula and literally EVERYTHING else we thought of or needed was there so no complaints here!). The cows in the field across from us deciding we needed a 4am dawn chorus on one of the days was particularly funny. We’d absolutely return if we’re back in the area. Can’t fault our stay at all!

This was the first time we have stayed in a Shepherd’s Hut, and it was one of the best experiences of my life. The standard was exceptional, everything you needed was there. The welcome hamper and card was a lovely gesture, especially the museli which I have ordered on my return home. The hut was compact, but designed to include all amenities to a high standard. Totally private with your own entrance gate. Well within driving distance to the Lake District and surrounding areas. Outside there was everything you needed for the bbq and fire pit. Unfortunately the weather was against us but we spent enjoyable evenings playing cards and scrabble. We are both in our 70’s , I had booked for 3 nights to celebrate my birthday. I wanted somewhere in a secluded spot with no TV to be able to relax. We were certainly able to do this. Waking up to peace and quiet, with beautiful views across the countryside . I would definitely recommend anyone booking this retreat

Beautiful property and location for our family gathering. Accessible/ground floor room with en-suite, and pet friendly. Christine is a professional, responsive host that answers questions quickly and went out of her way to accommodate us. Thoroughly recommend.
