We have been lucky enough to stay in a number of Rowley Estates properties, the most recent before this was in May at Blencowe Hall. We have just returned from a week staying in Elk Cottage and what a wonderful week we had. Elk is beautiful, perfectly maintained with lovely gardens and in a very quiet position, at night you could be looking at a photograph it is so quiet which allows you to hear all the owls calling to each other which I loved.
We were treated to wildlife for the week having been led in by a hare, an owl who refused to move out of the road until it was ready, a red squirrel nearby and a pair of badgers.
Elk is typical of Rowley Estates, it is personal from booking to the housekeeping, the personal touches are the difference here and dealing with Christine and her team is always a joy.
If you want somewhere cozy, but surprisingly roomy, where everything is thought of from amazing beds to great showers then I cannot recommend Elk Cottage highly enough. Oh and our two dogs had a fantastic holiday as well, they were exhausted at night 😁

We loved every minute of our stay at Vale Croft. Even before we arrived we were impressed by the website and the ease of booking on line. The information provided about all aspects of the cottage and the area was comprehensive and very helpful. And when we actually arrived, Vale Croft exceeded all our expectations! From the ‘welcome hamper’ to the comfortable bed and furniture; the efficient, crackling wood burner to the powerful shower; the well equipped kitchen to the beautiful views, Vale Croft is a wonderful place to enjoy a peaceful holiday.
The owners of the cottage made every effort to ensure we had an enjoyable and comfortable stay. When we discovered we had left our wash bag behind at the end of our holiday they immediately packaged it up and returned it (free of charge) in the post!

Fabulous, spacious property in a beautiful location and wonderfully well equipped

Blencowe is a magical place. We had our wedding there and it was a wonderfully intimate venue. We hired the cottages too which were all beautiful. Our guests, young and older, found the venue enchanting. Joanna from the Rowley Estates team was very helpful with supplier contacts and support. Highly recommended for any special event!

Fabulous place to make memories. Nice village with lovely people and a great pub with superb food. Everyone in our party of 16 felt relaxed and at home and left with batteries fully recharged. Thank you once again

Wonderful, extremely spacious accommodation, facilities and location. Perfect for a large gathering of any sort. I would definitely recommend and would love to go again.

Sorry for the late review, we couldn’t of pick a better time for weather if we tried but the lodge was perfect exactly what you need, waking up with the sound of the river and the trees was unreal not to mention the welcome basket. The jam wow, if you are thinking of booking this do it now 👏

A short stay for my birthday, my husband got in touch with Christine beforehand to plan for decorations as a surprise – they were amazing! The cabin is lovely, very cosy with a comfortable bed. Little hamper of supplies on arrival was a treat. Great location, nothing better than sitting on the deck with a cup of tea, listening to nothing but the river, relatively short drive for Keswick and Whinlatter. Would absolutely stay again!
