This was our third time staying at the beautiful cottage. Very comfortable in an idyllic location for walks and easy access to the great lakes. The cottage has everything you need for any length of stay. Our hosts are fabulous and the welcome hamper is always a lovely surprise.

This is a wonderful and comfortable house, so well appointed with every amenity one could need during a week’s stay thought of and provided for. There’s a great kitchen and dining table for meals in and we were lucky with sunshine to enjoy the garden. The bedrooms are very comfortable with lovely bathrooms. It is super clean and looks very newly refurbished. There is a wealth of local information in the house which was much appreciated, including details and maps for walks and drives and local restaurants and menus. The village is lovely with a great coffee shop and a pub. Penrith is nearby and it’s an easy run down to the Lakes, with plenty to do around more local area also. Would love to come back here and hope to!

I stayed at Glassonby Hall previously with friends and thought it would be a great place to celebrate my mums 60th birthday weekend. It didn’t disappoint! Christine was fabulous and instantly at the end of an email to answer any of my questions. There was ample parking and the welcome hamper superb, which even had a birthday card in for my mum. We hired a hot tub through Cumbria Hot tub hire which was fabulous and lovely added bonus to the weekend. We hired a caterer from Eden catering solutions which was wonderful, would highly recommend using Sam. The house itself was amazing, plenty of room for 6 adults, 2 children and a baby (cot and high chair provided). The garden is enclosed which was great for our small dog who slept in the nice warm utility. We also ate at the Fetherston Arms in Kirkoswald, just a 5 minute drive and had an excellent meal. Aria Force waterfall was a worthwhile trip out not far away, saw 2 rainbows over the water which was just stunning. This house has lots of character and 2 huge fireplaces with plenty of logs available, would definitely recommend.

We have not yet stayed at Melmerby Hall but I needed to write a review on our experience of booking our wedding with Rowley Estates. After months of looking for the perfect wedding venue we found Melmerby Hall via Rowley Estates. We are having a small wedding and all the guests are staying for the weekend. The service has been exceptional, it has been completely stress free and enjoyable. Joanna is a dream, from answering questions to arranging for us to visit the Hall and spending time looking round and deciding who would love which bedroom, the pictures really do not do this amazing property justice. Joanna has provided details on caterers, flowers, photographers and even a hot tub provider, the response is always quick, friendly, professional and fully informative. On our visit she recommended the local cafe/ bakery, we visited before our journey home and the food was lovely, we are going to use them for fresh bread etc for our stay. We have booked Lynn Hilditch for the wedding breakfast and again nothing is to much trouble and we can design our own menu with different choices. Lynn even does a drop of service so you don’t have to do any cooking if you don’t want to! The church is very close, just a lovely short walk on pathway through the grounds, we have booked the little church but you can get married in the drawing room. If you are thinking about what to do differently for your wedding rather than spending all that money on just one day in a generic Hotel that only cares about taking your money then book a weekend property and extend your celebrations with the freedom to do what you want when you want. I can’t recommend booking Melmerby Hall highly enough and although I have not seen the other properties from the service we have received I would recommend to book through Rowley Estates. We are having the wedding of our dreams (in budget I might add) and its been totally stress free, roll on March 2020 🙂

Very well designed as a modern holiday home. Lots of space, comfortable, well maintained and cleaned to a high standard. Lots more tableware and cutlery than people, we didn’t run out of mugs even with regular tea breaks. Aga was too cool for most of our cooking, but could boil on the hottest plate and slow cook in the oven. Internet worked well and we all seemed to have mobile phone signals. Owners were very friendly and contactable. Surprisingly interesting area, we walked up the Peninnes from the village, others walked to the village store/teashop! Drove to Bird of Prey centre, Jersey Ice cream farm, National trust Acorn bank, Little Salkeld MIll, Alston railway…. then further away to Keswick and a couple of Lakeland fell walks. Talking of which, sitting in the “day room” (used in evening as well) we were treated to a week of sunsets over the distant Lakeland fells. We have just had the most wonderful six days in Elk Cottage. You cannot fault this holiday let in any way. Self catering usually means carting the staples like washing up liquid, dishwasher tabs., loo paper, bread, milk, butter, eggs etc., not with Elk Cottage though. On arrival, there on the kitchen table was a wonderful and very generous welcome hamper. It had lovely things in it including wine, tea bags, fudge, lovely home made jam, bread etc, and on opening the fridge we found eggs, butter and cheese!! There was a wonderful bowl of fruit on the table and flowers in vases around the house, what a lovely welcome after a long drive. Tallulah, our Curly Coat Retriever had a lovely time too, she had a visit from the 2 Flat Coat Retriever boys next door! We all had a very relaxing time, visiting several friends in the area and apart from one day, we had lovely weather. Thank you Christine, Charlie and Jilly

Beautiful cottage set in immaculate grounds. Idyllic and peaceful. Views were tremendous over the hills and vales. The cottage very comfortable and well appointed. And with luxury linens and towels. Beds were super comfy. Kitchen had everything one might need. The hamper was perfect to start the holiday – perfect for the extra feeling that the owners care about their guests. My husband went fly fishing with one of the names given to us by Christine – what could be better. Easy and full communication from the day we wrote our first email. Thank you

We spent a week at Jenny’s Croft and it was delightful. We chose it because we wanted somewhere rural and would also provide a good base to get around and also to meet up with family. We were not disappointed as The Croft was of a very high standard and the setting was beautiful. Thank you for a beautiful hamper, the fruit bowl was great and everything in it was delicious. We also enjoyed the champagne courtesy of an early booking! We found everything to be as described and everything was catered for so no reason to be disappointed! Although there are other cottages adjoining you still have provided sufficient privacy to allow everyone to sit out – which all 3 cottages did on one of the evenings as we enjoyed the last of the days sunshine! Thank you Christine for your advice and prompt responses it was very helpful and very much appreciated, you have done a great job!

Wow – how better to spend an 80^th Birthday with all the family with all the family. Happy days and happy memories at a stunning setting. Wonderful views, walks and very lucky weather. The house is amazing , very warm and so very well equipped – all you could ever want. Thank you – hope to be back sometime.
